How to play:
Step 1: find your opponent, Swords and Spells is a two player game both players will need their own deck and board (if you really want to you can play with more than two people but it might get complicated)
Step 2: choose your teams, each player selects three characters from their deck and play the character cards in the slots on the board (two players can not have the same character on their teams while their playing against each other)
Step 3: shuffle, shuffle the action cards of your chosen characters and any other food, item, or relic cards you have (it is recommended to remove cards that belong to characters not on your team or that can’t be used on any charter on your team from your deck before shuffling) Then draw five cards from your deck
Step 4: time to play, you can decide who goes first, or both players can roll a D6 and whoever gets the highest number goes first
Cards:
Character Cards
Character Card are used to display the characters on your team place them in the slots on the board to keep track of their health, when a character drops to 0 health they have been knocked down and can no longer fight
Action Cards
Each Character has a set of action cards that can be used to determine what they can do on a turn, action cards include any ability, basic or Enhanced Attack, or reactions the character may have
Species abilities:
Some characters have special abilities based on their species such as werewolves who can transform these cards are not specific to one character but rather can be used on any character who is the species on the card
Food Cards
Food cards can be used to heal characters, any character can be healed by any food card (except for the blood card which can only be used on vampires) but giving a character their favorite
Glyph spells
Some characters are glyph casters they don’t have as many actions as others but can cast glyph spells a glyph caster can cast any spiritual magic Glyph Spell but to cast elemental spells they either need to have an elemental affiliation of the same type as the spell they want to cast or and Elemental crystal which are item cards
Item and relic cards
Relics and item cards can be used to enhance a characters attack or let a player do have extra attack on a turn
On your turn:
On your turn you have a main action and a bonus action you can use any of the cards in your as long as you don’t go over one main action and a bounce action or two bonus actions food cards are considered a free action and using a relic is considered a bonus action action cards will be labeled either action bonus action or reaction depending on when you can use them if a character has been knocked down you can not use their cards , if you don’t have any cards you can play your turn ends, once you’ve used a card as many times as it can be used it must be discarded, at the end of your turn you draw one card from your deck, you draw one card even if you used more than one or didn’t use any on your turn, On your turn you use one action from any character on your team not one action for each character , and action and a bonus action or two bonus actions used on the same turn do not need to be from the same character
The game ends when one player has no characters left standing on their team, the player with characters still standing wins.
Glossary:
Main action: the main thing you do on your turn
Bonus action: a quicker action you can do alongside your main action
Reaction: an action that is not used on your turn but in response to being attacked
